trauma + ptsd
Adverse experiences in childhood and adulthood can have repercussions long after the event. These include feeling on edge and fearful, unwelcome memories, difficulty sleeping, and more. Often these symptoms do not resolve on their own and require specialized treatment.
depression
Depression is more than just feeling sad. It is a global disorder impacting mood, energy, sleep, appetite, self-image, and the ability to experience enjoyment from life. While it may feel intense, depression is treatable.
PEER RELATIONSHIPS
Our relationships with others may not always go the way we wish and can become a source of stress. Examining our habitual patterns of interaction can offer insight and direct positive change.
stress
Stress is a fact of life for many, but when excessive or prolonged it can lead to feeling overwhelmed, cause difficulty sleeping, short tempers and reactiveness. We don’t function at our best when we’re stressed and it’s easy to blame ourselves for not being able to handle it all.
ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS
Being in a relationship that is abusive is disorienting, especially when there is no violence or other overt sign that something is wrong. Self-doubts arise and it’s easy in these situations to get stuck in shame.
LIFE TRANSITIONS
All major life transitions - happy, sad and in between - call on us to cope in new and different ways. Sometimes this can catch us off guard and lead to distress. Adjusting well to change is a skill that needs to be nurtured.
ANXIETY
Fear, worry, and dread can come and go quickly or remain at a low simmer for days or even weeks. Anxiety is often experienced in the body as agitation, muscle tension, and shallow breathing. I use techniques to reduce these feelings while leaning in to better understand them.
GRIEF
When we lose someone that we truly loved, grief is the most natural and necessary of processes. Often the pain of grief is experienced physically. While terribly painful, this emotion should be honored and supported.
AND MORE
Life challenges us in ways that are not always easily defined. We are all wonderfully complex individuals. Together, we can work effectively with whatever arises in an environment built on compassion and respect.
